FROM AN OLD SAYING...
While working with his biographers, Dr. Seuss reminisced about the verbal exchange between friends that accompanied their Dartmouth handshake: “When I went to college, it was a campy thing to say, ‘Oh, the places you’ll go! The people you’ll meet!’” That Roaring Twenties handshake, and the words that defined it, sent Ted on his way to a robust and rewarding career.
In 1990, he chose these same words as the title for his parting book, a volume of empowerment and inspiration that reminds readers of life’s realities — you’ll have slumps and bumps, bang-ups and hang-ups, you’ll be left in a lurch, and un-slumping yourself is not easily done.
Ted Geisel’s final published lines furnish the hope and encouragement to carry on.
“And will you succeed?
Yes! You will, indeed!
